David Sheen’s parents immigrated to the United States three decades ago, so their children could pursue a higher education and obtain a more fulfilling life. Because David has had firsthand experience of the many obstacles and challenges that immigrants have to face in a new country, it was an easy choice for him to pursue a career in law with the goal of assisting others to achieve their American dream and become good citizens of this great country.
Mr. Sheen is a graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Psychology in 1996. David received his Doctor of Law Degree in 2000 at California Western School of Law in San Diego, California.
Attorney David Sheen is the Principal Attorney of JD Global Law Firm. He has over 12 year of professional experience as a respected attorney in the San Francisco bay area. He has represented hundreds of clients ranging from multi-national companies to mid-sized and small companies, as well as individuals undergoing the U.S. immigration process. Mr. Sheen has represented clients from all around the world including China, United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, France, Senegal, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Israel, Vietnam, Australia, Spain, Thailand, Malaysia and Philippines.
Mr. Sheen is licensed to practice law before all California State Courts as well as United States Federal District Courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. He is an active member of the California State Bar, American Immigration Lawyers Association, Asian American Bar Association, Associations of International Business Lawyers, U.S. and Fremont Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of American Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Bar Association of San Francisco, Barristers Club of San Francisco, Alameda County Bar, and County Bar of Los Angeles.
Mr. Sheen also serves on Congressman Eric Swalwell’s (CA District 15) Immigration Advisory Board. He is also a civil rights advocate and a frequent guest speaker for local schools, businesses, and community organizations on various topics about civic participation, immigration law reform, and education. David has been quoted by the San Jose Mercury News in its bi-weekly immigration columns. He has been interviewed by Sing Tao Radio, Channel 26 KTSF and KCNS TV on various legal and community service related subjects. Mr. Sheen was also featured in the Chinese Consumer Yellow Pages among the most successful Asian-American professionals in Northern California.
Mr. Sheen has also taken many leadership positions in the community. He is the Past President of Citizen for Better Community (CBC 2007-2008). Currently, he is serving as a Board of Director CBC and Co-Chair of CBC Community Involvement and Internship Programs. CBC is a non-profit community service organization co-founded by Mr. Henry Yin in 1992. CBC’s mission is to initiate, sponsor and promote community events, which will affect the well-being of Chinese Americans with an emphasis on education, health, business and community involvement.
Mr. Sheen is the President Elect (2014-2015) of Asian Business Alliance. He is also a Charter Member and Legal Counsel of this organization. ABA is a supportive organization addressing the needs and challenges of many Asian and minority business owners, including limited exposure, language/cultural barriers, and other business development issues. Mr. Sheen also serves as a Board Member of Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (APAPA) Bay Area Chapter. This organization was founded by Mr. CC Yin. APAPA’s Mission is to promote the advancement of Asian and Pacific Islander (API) Americans through active participation and leadership in civic and public affairs.
